{"id":31046,"date":"2025-03-24T09:05:49","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T08:05:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sweet-swice.ch\/?p=31046"},"modified":"2025-09-08T10:58:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T08:58:02","slug":"real-world-impact-swice-research-driving-label-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweet-swice.ch\/fr\/real-world-impact-swice-research-driving-label-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Real-world impact: SWICE research driving label development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.2&#8243; background_enable_image=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.2&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can scientific research contribute to the development of certification processes?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What role do New Work, mobility, and energy\u00a0play in evolving certification labels?<\/p>\n<p>These questions took center stage at a <a href=\"https:\/\/sweet-swice.ch\/work-packages\/\">WP6 <\/a>workshop, organized in collaboration with the label organisations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minergie.ch\/fr\/\"><strong>MINERGIE<\/strong> <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgni.ch\/\"><strong>SGNI<\/strong><\/a>, and the sustainable construction network <a href=\"https:\/\/nnbs.ch\/fr\/\"><strong>NNBS<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0label organizations and coordinated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/christian-schmid-173254b3\/overlay\/about-this-profile\/\">Christian Schmid<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/danielkliem\/overlay\/about-this-profile\/\">Daniel Kliem<\/a> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/intep.com\/\">intep<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the workshop was to provide sustainable construction label organisations with SWICE research results, in order to integrate these into further development of lab criteria catalogues and the strategic positioning of such organisations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Research Insights<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>42% lower CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong>: Remote work significantly reduces commuting-related carbon footprints.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Optimizing space efficiency<\/strong>: Coworking spaces could <strong>save up to 8% of residential space<\/strong>by converting office areas into shared-use facilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mobility shift through remote work<\/strong>: A <strong>10% increase in teleworking<\/strong>leads to <strong>60 kg less CO\u2082 emissions per person annually<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Considering rebound effects<\/strong>: Less commuting can result in increased leisure travel\u2014an aspect that must be addressed in label development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexible workspaces as a gamechanger<\/strong>: Up to <strong>80% of fixed workstations<\/strong>could be converted into flexible structures, optimizing space and energy efficiency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshop highlighted strong synergies between research and practice, providing valuable impulses for the future of certification processes.
