The SWICE consortium is delighted to welcome Prof. Philippe Thalmann as the new SWICE Coordinator. Philippe will take over the responsibility from Prof. Marilyne Andersen, who has been leading the consortium since its inception.
Philippe is a Swiss economist and Associate Professor at EPFL, where he leads the Laboratory of Environmental and Urban Economics. His research interests focus on the economics of the natural and the built environment, covering topics such as policy instruments, housing, constructions and real estate markets. Philippe has been involved in the SWICE consortium since the beginning. As the co-leader of Work Package 2 (Well-being, standards and transition), he has overseen the development of a framework to reach individual and collective well-being with a much smaller resource footprint, and built solid bridges to other Work Packages.
The change of leadership is due to Marilyne stepping down to focus on a new professional challenge as Director General of the GESDA Foundation. Marilyne is a Full Professor of sustainable construction technologies at EPFL and leads the Laboratory of Integrated Performance Design. She created the SWICE consortium within the SWEET programme in 2021.
Luisa Pastore and the rest of the SWICE management team look forward to facilitating this transition and continuing the research efforts of the consortium. We would like to warmly thank Marilyne for her vision and leadership in the past three years.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Philippe to the leadership team!
