Outdoor Comfort Living Lab

The Outdoor Comfort Living Lab Lab is located in the neighbourhood of Jonction, in Geneva. Its aim is to use participatory processes to design interventions that increase people’s thermal comfort during peak heat.
In this Living Lab, special consideration is given to cooling spaces in a way that meets human needs.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
Engage in a co-creative process with diverse actors to address comfort and wellbeing in outdoor spaces during periods of extreme heat. This involves working with several stakeholders, including the City of Geneva and various services, cooperative building, associations, and local inhabitant, among others. Following input from the ETHZ team, complemented by HEPIA, and research conducted by the UNIGE team in 2023-2024, a series of initiatives are planned for summer 2025 to cool people in outdoor spaces, ranging from installations to changes in cooling habits.
